Governance and Rule of Law

We collaborate with governments, as well as the local and international communities, to promote Somalia’s democratic governance. We offer technical assistance and training to help governments strengthen their governance systems, reform, and modernize their institutions, and identify and implement strategic changes. Our dedicated workforce assists government institutions in becoming more responsive and accountable to their people. We also help upholding the rule of law by increasing the justice sector’s capacity to offer fair access to justice. We help governments and civil society protect human rights and ensure that the law is applied equally. Through advocacy and enforcement, we work to combat public sector corruption, train law enforcement and security officers, strengthen court administration, expand correctional services capacity, train attorneys, and improve public accountability.

On the other hand, Somalia has shifted from centralized to decentralized governance. This issue has had an impact on the functioning of government at all levels, necessitating a restructuring of government institutions at the federal, state, and municipal levels. This has implications in a variety of sectors, particularly for constitutional, judicial, and financial management institutions and government institutions, which provide services to people. We, therefore, engage with authorities at all levels and international organizations to ensure that these reforms are implemented in a systematic manner.
